The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group held its first meeting in September 2011 and since then has proved to be a useful resource for carers. This support group is for anyone caring for a person with Alzheimer’s or any other form of dementia, such as a sibling, spouse, child, friend or paid help. At its monthly meetings carers of people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia provide mutual support to each other. This support can help them to cope better with caring. Carers have an opportunity to share feelings and experiences with each other while continuing to learn about these diseases of the brain from educational talks by medical professionals.
The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 5:30 pm upstairs the Cat Boat Club House (blue building next to Lobster Pot), North Church Street, George Town. For more information call 1 345 924 4170 or email:
Other services to be provided in future will include a telephone helpline for carers.
